“Pay close attention to what you hear. The closer you listen, the more understanding you will be given—and you will receive even more. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given” (Mark 4:24-25a, NLT).
Mother-tongue-based education is crucial for younger generations to appreciate and use the translated Scriptures. It strengthens reading comprehension significantly in ways that affect reading skills throughout life. Diane Dekker, Senior Multilingual Education Consultant with SIL International,* said, “This affects not only understanding the Scriptures but also their ability to reflect on those passages, analyzing how they apply it to their daily lives.” It’s a result that encourages the development of stronger disciples and produces more mature and committed believers.
- Pray that God would use mother-tongue-based educational programs around the world to help foster deeper understanding and practical application of His Word in the heart language.
- Pray for churches to gain a vision for the important role of education in marginalized communities within their nation. Ask God to raise up local churches that can promote discipleship and Bible studies using translated Scriptures.
